"Zachary needs stitches", was the first thing I heard on the other end of the line.
Apparently my Mexican Martini was doing it's job, because I didn't freak out at all! I did, however, rush back in to the restaurant, grab our bill and hand it and a credit card to the first server I saw. Within minutes we were out of there and on our way back to my mom's to get Zachary.
Zachary and Grant had been running and playing when they collided...not unusual by any means. Zachary just happened to be next to the corner of a baseboard where is precious little face landed.
Off to the emergency room we went.
Thankfully my car stays loaded with "junk" for the boys. We enjoyed the songs of our "dogeeeee" and read our book while the numbing gel took effect and we waited for the doctor. (That's not really blood running down his face, there is a clear film holding the gel, mixed with blood, in place.)
Zachary was such a trooper! Of course he objected loudly to being strapped to the papoose board. But, he actually fell asleep after the first few stitches! This made Mommy feel much better.
After 2 hours in the emergency room, Zachary was back in Gigi's arms and we headed to our hotel room. I was NOT going to give up my opportunity to sleep in.
Poor little guy, he does sound like a trooper though.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you still got you evening away! It's necessary to 'recharge' those mom batteries once in a while, you're blessed to have a wonderful mom!
Aww, poor Zachary!!! I'm so glad he fell asleep; I can only imagine how hard that was to watch.
ReplyDeleteHey, are you guys going to the Cameron Road reunion thing this weekend? We're going (staying with Brian and Suzanne Payne). Hope to be able to meet your cuties there!
LOVE your blog design. My daughter fell and cut her chin open when she was about this age, too. Same story. Cried and screamed until the doctor started putting the stitches in. Then she zonked out. :)
ReplyDeleteI sent my comment too soon......glad you got to enjoy your night out despite the excitement. Zachary looks like such a trooper.
ReplyDeleteaww, poor thing! that looks like a nasty cut. i'm sure he was a trooper and boys always think scars are cool (much to their mother's dismay).
ReplyDeleteOh no! Poor guy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you still used your hotel room.
Such a trooper! I got tears in my eyes as I read. I'm so glad that the two of you were able to still get and evening away as you deserve some time to sleep in and to just be with Sloan!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, love the blog design!!
Kelly at http://theneuroticmom.blogspot.com/ told me about this because my 3-yr-old daughter developed a matching wound on her chin last weekend! 3 hours in the ER!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little man you have there! I hope he heals quickly!
Poor kiddo - I'm glad he's okay and I'm SUPER impressed that you went back to the hotel room - kuddos to you for not being an over-protective mommy!!!! Yeah!!! A night (and morning) with NO kids. Oh the things we look forward to. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh man, you guys sure know how to keep it interesting! Great story, as always. Ellie enjoyed the pictures, too. She kept asking, "Is he crying?" Poor Zach.
