BATS

If you are from Austin, you know that one of the cool things to do in the summer is watch the bats fly out from under the Congress bridge.  Austin has the largest urban population of Mexican Free-Tail Bats in the WORLD!

The bats all fly out at dusk in search of food!  Right now the babies aren't able to fly yet so there are "only" about 750,000 to 1.25 million...there will be MORE in August when the pups are flying too!

Saturday night we took the boys out to watch the bats...but not before some watermelon, of course!

Does it get any cuter than this?  I think NOT!

6 Years!

 

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband.  The last 6 years have been quite the adventure...thanks for making them the best 6 years of my life!  I wouldn't trade it for anything!  Here's to many, many, more years together!

The Big 3-0!

Sloan turns 30 today!  

I know to most of you that isn't old...but for those of us who are here, NOW, it is hard to say good-bye to the twenties.  Thankfully I have a few more months to hang on to mine...and will be in a new baby blur when my birthday comes.

Zachary decided that his daddy needed a "bike cake" for his birthday.  While I thought it fit Sloan perfectly (he commutes to work on his bike everyday), I had no idea how to pull that off.  Bike cakes aren't in the cake book at the grocery store and there aren't decorations at the party store either!  Thankfully I found a single red road bike (can't be a  mountain bike!) online that wasn't going to break the bank.

Here's what I came up with:

It's supposed to look like a hill, with a road and some grass!  I know it sort of looks like a wreck, but I'm happy with the way it turned out!

I decided that we would just smash both Father's Day and Sloan's birthday into one celebration considering the uncertainty of his work schedule.

Soccer!

The boys had their first soccer game this morning.

Zachary volunteered to be the goalie in the beginning of the game and did a GREAT job!

26 Weeks

It's hard to believe that I just have 14 more weeks to go!!!

So that is why I have been feeling so many jabs and kicks!!!  She's showing off her big muscles!  I am so blessed to have a doctor that performs ultrasounds at each visit and takes the time to get us some really good pictures!

This past week brought some new changes for our family...I quit my job!!!  And I have never been busier!  Ha!  The boys still go to school 3 days a week until 3:00pm and we have been filling the rest of our days with plenty of activities.  I am MUCH busier now - but it's a FUN busy and I am able to keep up with the household chores that I neglected for so long!  I have been nervous to really announce/celebrate quitting because I know there are so many people out there that, due to the economy and situation our country is in, wish for nothing more than to have a job.  I feel very blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to "stay home".

Just me bragging...

Sloan graduated from residency Saturday night.  

It's weird to finally be typing those words!  It seems like these past 4 years have flown by - for me at least!  He will complete a year of fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia before taking a position as Attending Physician with Baylor College of Medicine.

I couldn't be more proud of his accomplishments.  He balanced the pressures and stress of being Chief Resident and even managed to achieve an off-the-scale score on his national in-training exam.  He scored a 51...the scale only went to 50!  I pray our children take after their dad when it comes to intelligence and ambition.
