Tomatoes

This post is for Sloan.

He has been composting since we moved in to our house and it is really paying off. We recently planted a garden in our backyard. After running out of space in the ground, Sloan planted a few in a pot with mostly compost as the soil. Here is the comparison:

Mostly Compost
(up to the second rung on the tomato cage)

A Little Compost
(not even to the first rung)

Getting Greener

We have slowly been incorporating greener choices in our life...thanks to Rachel for all of her tips and advice.

The boys have been eating mostly organic baby food. I had all intentions of making their food, I even bought a great book, but I just don't have the time.

Our latest investment in the environment has been in buying some canvas grocery bags. We go to the grocery store once a week and end up with 10-12 plastic bags that we just end up throwing in the trash.

My next project is to find a good recycling system that doesn't take up too much space in our tiny kitchen...and finding somewhere to take it to. I am embarassed to tell how many little glass food jars we are contributing to the landfill.
