Today was a busy day with doctor's appointments. We went to the Ophthalmologist at 7:45 this morning (that was a feat) where we learned that the boys are no longer at risk for ROP (a condition that can cause blindness due to prematurity). Yeah! This was great news. I, of course, couldn't stay in the room for the exam. Once the procedure, which involved eye speculums, was explained to me, I quickly excused myself to the hall and left Sloan to handle the exam. After a few hours of rest we were off to the pediatrician for a weight check and shots. Zachary now weighs 6lbs 14oz and Grant is closing in at 6lbs 12oz. The boys each got 4 shots, 2 in each thigh, which they didn't appreciate one bit. Dr. Rowland was thrilled with the progress that the boys have made, but discouraged us from taking them to too many public places for several more weeks. She did, however, tell us that we could venture out on walks to the park or other places where Zachary and Grant wouldn't come in contact with too many people. So we took her up on it and went to the park this afternoon. The boys slept through the walk, but Jake enjoyed the outing.
These are the outfits that Grandpa bought us, unfortunately our feet are too small for the Converse high tops he got to go along with them. But we are sure to get use out of them soon!
