The boys are doing so good! I am just so excited every time we visit them...I can't wait to see their daily weight gain. Zachary now weighs 5lbs 9oz and Grant is 5lbs 5oz. They are both progressing well with their bottle feeding...Grant is very eager and loves to eat...Zachary gets just enough to satisfy his hunger and he is right back to sleep, though he is starting to be more awake and alert around feeding time. With Grant on the other hand, it is like you can't feed him enough, last night he was screaming and fussy an hour after he had eaten...he was rooting away and sucking on anything that came anywhere near his mouth. Sloan and I got our first experience trying to console and inconsolable child for and hour and a half...then we finally convinced the nurse that he needed to eat...of course he was asleep in no time once that warm milk hit his tummy. It is very hard trying to work on the hospital's set schedule for every baby...I'm not convinced that that schedule is fit for every baby...hopefully within the net few weeks we can be home trying to hammer out our own schedule.
Please keep Grant in your prayers...he is a little anemic, the doctors are monitoring it at this point and hopefully he won't need a blood transfusion. This is something that all preemies encounter at some point in their hospital stay...it's not a terribly serious issue, but I just hate seeing IVs in those tiny arms and of course I worry about the risks of transfusion. Both boys have already had transfusions, but we are still a little apprehensive when we hear they may need another one. Like I said it's not something to worry about right now, with prayer maybe it won't be anything to worry about at all.
