A Virginia Pine Deep in the Heart of Texas

Today we joined our friends, The Magnusons, for a trip to the Christmas tree farm. Grant's favorite part was the tractor that pulled the hayride out to the trees. He couldn't have cared less about the actual trees themselves.
After we searched hundreds of trees...we found the perfect one. I wanted a big, fat one since it we finally have a room big enough. Sloan tagged and cut our tree, not without little boys watching his every move. Then, much to Grant's desire...we got to ride the hay ride with our tree back to the main area.
Note to self: Don't dress your son in camouflage when you are heading into a forest of Christmas trees! Thankfully the constant..."Mommy, up, up, Mommy, up, up!" made him easy to find.
After we got back out of the "forest" we enjoyed warm apple cider. There were also goats and a donkey named Stormy for us to visit. Our venture was not without injury however, Grant fell into a small hole and scratched his face on some brush. He has a nice size scratch down the left side of his face from his forehead, across is eyelid, and down his cheek. Boys!
I think the best part by far was sliding down the dirt hill. In Southeast Texas we don't have the pleasure of snow, so we make the best of our arid terrain and slide down dirt. Just as much fun and no cold toes!

  1. Okay, sliding down a DIRT hill has got to be the funniest thing I've ever seen/heard of! Seriously. Too funny. I love your tree - beautiful!

  2. How much FUN!!! I wish we could have a real tree, but I think Curt's alleges would cause his eyes to finally explode. And, that wouldn't be the best thing. :)
