Our first fever

Sloan and I were up all night Wednesday night...into Thursday morning with Grant. He was extremely fussy, we both heard a cry we had never heard before. It was obvious that Grant wasn't feeling well...we just didn't know what was wrong. He was a little gassy, so we gave him Mylicon and tried to lull him back to sleep. Finally, around 3:00 Friday morning, the little guy went back to sleep.

He was a little fussy Thursday morning, but didn't have any fever that I noticed. He refused his food at daycare, and at 10:30 they called me to tell me that Grant had a fever of 101.7 and that I needed to come and get him. When I arrived at daycare, I found a sad, sick, little Grant. He looked awful and just draped himself over my shoulder. We went home and rested (we were both exhausted from the night before) until our 2:30 doctor's appointment. Sloan met us at the doctor and we waited to find the cause of the fever.

Grant has a double ear infection. I have never seen anyone as excited as Dr. Rowland to find pus in a baby's ear. This meant it was an easy diagnosis and an easy treatment...saving us from blood work-ups. We got a prescription for antibiotics and we were on our way.

So, Grant is staying home with me today, daycare won't let him back until he has been fever-free for 24 hours...even though he is not contagious...it's a good rule. Despite how sick he is, Grant has been a surprisingly happy baby and even showed off for Dr. Rowland yesterday. Please keep him in your prayers that he heals quickly.
